Bio
Dr. Justin L Hess is an associate professor in the School of Engineering Education at Purdue University and the Associate Head of Undergraduate Programs where he oversees two programs: Multidisciplinary Engineering and Interdisciplinary Engineering Studies. Dr. Hess’s research focuses on empathic and ethical formation in engineering education.
He received his PhD from Purdue University’s School of Engineering Education, as well as a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from Purdue University’s School of Civil Engineering. He is a member of the editorial board with the Online Ethics Center and deputy director for research for the National Institute of Engineering Ethics. He previously served as program/division chair for the ASEE Liberal Education/Engineering and Society division; chair of the ASCE Committee on Sustainability sub-committee on Formal Engineering Education; and editorial board chair of the Online Ethics Center.
